The problem we
want to solve

A Growing Crisis Beyond Overconsumption
Indonesia faces a severe textile waste problem, contributing significantly to environmental degradation.

People buy 60% more clothing than before, only to discard each item after wearing it 50% as often.

by 2023, textile waste in Indonesia is estimated to rise 30% to 3.9 million tones/year.

60% of all new clothing materials are actually plastic.

Majority of these waste is transported to landfills nationwide, with only 12% managed through recycling.

Since 2016,

TRI Cycle has created environmentally friendly textile products with options for sustainable fabrics such as retired bedsheets to reduce fabric waste and organic textiles to reduce environmental harm.

2016

TRI Cycle Established: Our initial focus was selling handkerchiefs as an alternative to reduce tissue usage and promote reforestation.

2017-2019

  • Product Expansion: Building on the success of the handkerchiefs, we expanded our product line using recycled materials, including repurposed bedsheets from hotels around Bali.
  • Focus on Local Artisans: We began collaborating with local artisans in Bali to produce a wider variety of items made from upcycled and sustainable materials.
  • Tree Planting: with every product sold, we dedicated our profit for tree planting activities..

2019

First Clothes Swap Party: We hosted our first clothes swap in Jakarta, encouraging people to exchange pre-loved clothing and reduce textile waste, while also promoting sustainable fashion practices. Since then, every year we have always hosted similar events.

2024

2024 Sustainable Fashion Festival: Continuing our commitment to promoting sustainable fashion, we hosted our first major event, the Sustainable Fashion Festival in Bali, as a platform to connect and drive change within the fashion industry.
